Time to relax

With all the raining and storming all day long, the area around here got more water than it knew what to do with, so when rush hour settled in, all the creeks and other water flows in the area decided to see what would happen if they dumped the excess onto the roads.

Poor Sara had a stressful trip back home from work this evening. After dinner, she plopped down in all her cuteness on the futon and fell fast asleep:

Well she must not have been completely asleep, since for quite some time she expressed an acknowledging "Mm-hmm" after every one of my hiccups.

Yet after her eyes fought to open just a bit ago, she mentioned that she didn't remember what awake is like.
Weekend, here she comes!

Friday v. 2

Alas, it is Friday, we have relaxed all evening, and now I'm barely awake enough to type.

We saw a good movie tonight with friends, "House of Flying Daggers." Absolutely beautiful, and quite enjoyable to watch, although the ending was a bit obscure.

Tomorrow is looking to be a fun day back in Naptown for a little while!

Healthy teeth

2) I've been horrible at flossing. I pretty much never remember to do it. Besides, after I finish brushing my teeth, when I normally would floss them, Sara is usually done getting ready for bed and waiting for me so we can do our evening devotions together. So flossing has not been a habit of mine.

2) When the lights go out, I tend not to fall asleep that quickly. I may feel tired while going through the night-time routines, but once we're done reading the Bible and praying, the lights go out, and the restful silence settles in, it seems like my body keeps going into "alright, what to do now?" mode, and my eyelids stop drooping.

Well, I recently had an idea to take care of both of these seemingly unrelated issues. I finally used my math major and put 2 and 2 together (indeed, the first character of this blog is not a typo, just a setup for a lame joke): I placed a roll of dental floss on the chest that serves as my nightstand next to our bed. Thus, when the day's over, and I'm mentally twiddling my thumbs, I simply reach over, grab the twine and floss all my teeth! It's been working great so far.

Just one of those days...

Today I have some thoughts, most likely because it was a less-than-favorable day, and you - our adoring blog followers - read whatever I write! and I need to vent.

My neck has increased movement, and although it hurts in some directions, I was still able to work.  So I went. Only to have a blurry day (muscle relaxers work...), have my car hit in the parking lot with no note (damage over the left wheel), and then came back home for a lovely nap. I needed it! Unfortunately the medication is doing it's job, so I'm stumbling around the house in a pleasant haze, frustrated by all the work I can see that needs to get done, that I don't have the energy to do. Oh well. Worse things have happened.

I've also instituted an internal policy for net-book - no downloading programs. I briefly dabbled in using the email program that comes with the computer, only to realize that this machine slows down incredibly when you download 3000 messages from your gmail folder. Instead I'll be using all the functionalities that Web 2.0 can provide, instead of relying on computer programs. I'm excited.

The rain is steadily pouring outside! It sounds beautiful.
